Halia O Halia

A very short entry today.

Been looking for pati halia.  Ada ke such thing?  Hubby lately asyik nak minum teh O halia sebab nak buang angin.  I pun tersuka juga teh O halia ni.  Sebab mmg terkentut2 and sendawa je selalu lepas minum.  So I ni dok la menumbuk or blend halia.  Sampai bawak ke hotel la halia yg ditumbuk tu buat stok. Nak cari short cut way by using ready made pati.  Tapi x jumpa.  But hubby found this instead..

It's a ginger powder.  I think this is used in cooking to spice up food.  But it is worth a try to see if we can substitute this with our original ginger.  I've actually tried it and it definitely gives  the same taste and aroma.  Cuma for some reason it is quite difficult to dissolve even in hot boiling water.  Hmm.. x kisah la.. it nevertheless save time and x payah la nak menumbuk2 halia tu. :))

All time favorite!

Orang kalau pantang jumpa bath tub, bila jumpa tu excited semacam sket ok!

Since our Master bedroom's bathroom was already renovated when hubby bought the condo and the bath tub has been removed, memang every time when we traveled, I really hope sangat2 hotel yg kitorg duduk tu ada bath tub.  Usually mmg all hotels ada la except for maybe budget hotels kan.  I mmg suka sgt berendam ala2 me'relax'kan minda gitu,  Sambil baca novel ke.  Ala2, orang puteyh gitu!  Ditambahkan pula dengan letak bubble bath.. waahhh.. syiokkkk...berendam dalam buih!! Mmg all time favorite!

Pastu bila kita syiok2 berendam, hubby pun nakkkk jugakkk... so harus la take turn kan.  Kacau daun sungguh! Maklum la dua2 bukan nyer slim... mana la muat kalau dua2 nak masuk dlm bath tub tu kan.  Harus la melimpah2 air keluar dr tub tu kalau dua2 gergasi dah masuk.

Dulu masa mula2 we all guna bath salt.  Tapi tak best sgt la.  Plus I read somewhere where it said bath salt tu cam tak berapa elok.  I can't exactly remember why la sebab dah lama baca about that.  Kalau nak tau, sila la google ok.  Plus i x berapa suka sebab xde bubble kan, so mmg tak best la.  We were searching high and low for the bubble bath.  Last2 jumpa la kat body shop.  We bought it at Body Shop JPO so murah la sikit kan after discounts.  Memang sgt best bubble bath ni.

The Body Shop SPICED VANILLA BUBBLE BATH 400ml

Features of this bubble bath are:

  • Gentle, sumptuous bubbles with a fresh and spiced vanilla scent.
  • Soap-free
  • Cleansing
  • Rich Lather
  • No parabens

How to use this bubble bath senang je.  Tuangkan 2 or 3 penutup into warm/hot running water. Then kocak2 air tu sikit2 using hands.  I suka sangat suka bubble bath ni.  Of course the scent is definitely heavenly too.  Mmg sgt relax.  Usually after berendam, I just rinse thoroughly and no longer sabun badan guna sabun lain.  I just love the Vanilla scent on my body. I totally recommend this if you guys nak cari bubble bath gak.

Ini la hasilnya lepas dikocak2 air tu..... and this kind of bubbles I hanya letak 2 tutup je.. bagus kan?

Banyakkan bubbles!! Me so excited!!

Already jumped in.  Where are my feet?  The bubbles are so thick!

There you are! Tunjuk tapak kaki je la ye.. lain2 censored! ;p

Vistana Hotel, Penang - The 2nd visit

Here I am again.. for the 2nd time this year!

Credit to google image

As usual, I would not miss the chance to follow hubby when he has to go for an audit work outstation.  Same goes to this round.  Though this is the 2nd time to Penang this year and I am well aware that we will be staying here again, I don't really mind, or don't really care, for that matter.  Janji dapat ikot.  Hehehe..

Nothing much has changed since my 1st visit in January.  Everything looks more or less the same.  Hubby wanted a bigger room than last time sbb kesian wife dia nak stay dlm bilik nanti.  So this time around we took an Executive Deluxe.  Hah.. xde la much different from the normal Deluxe room pun.  I think the size is more or less still the same. I can't remember the bed size in the Deluxe room, but this Executive Deluxe come with a king-sized bed.  There is also a day bed in the Executive Deluxe.  But then, macam la I kisah day bed ke night bed ke.  I still would lie on the bed pun regardless day or night.  And ended up the day bed jadi tempat letak baju.  Hehehe.

Part of the lobby towards the restaurant

The room.
p/s: Sila abaikan model di atas.
So far, banyak2 hotel yang I pergi I think Vistana has the best fluffy pillows.  The pillow memang besar and empuk.  Sangat best. rasa cam nak beli je.  Even the comforter is sooo comfortable.  That's why I don't really bother with the day bed cos the bed itself is soooo comfy.  Mmg x nak bangun la setiap kali baring.  Hehe.. melampau la kan.

The bath tub that hubby & I love to "berendam".  We even brought
the bubble bath gel bought from body shop for the water.

Bathroom is nice and clean.  Towels pun cantik, thick and takde stains or koyak.  Unlike some hotels. dush! I love how they put the glass at the side of the bath tub instead of using the tub curtain.  The glass is only half side.  But it managed to make water stay in the tub.  Kalau curtain, even though it is a full size length, air still tumpah2 kat bawah.  Benci... it makes the floor wet and slippery!

I love the bath gel (pink colored bottle).  It smells very fruity!

Usual tea/coffee making facilities.

Amenities are the usual ones like other hotels.  Nothing unusual.  There is also a hairdryer though I don't really use it.  Then there is iron and iron board readily available too which is good sebab some hotels you have to request them and after certain hours they will take it back after that sebab guest lain nak pakai pulak kan.  And the best part now is that that have pun in a WiFi in the room.  Last time I came, they were still using the internet cable.  So we can only use laptop to go online.  Sekarang dah ada WiFi, best sket sbb other devices pun boleh guna.  And mind you, the WiFi is so lajuu!!  Seronok betul download movies.  Hehe..

Strictly for adult.  Budak kecik kat ujung sana.

This is the swimming pool.  The place where hubby & I practice our swimming skills every evening.  Both, hubby & I love water! So we definitely won't miss the chance to jump into the pool.  Depth is 1.4 meter.  Basically just below my chin.  Dalam jugak la but still ok.  Senang nak swim sebab tak shallow sgt.

The gymnasium or it is called fitness center here.
To sweat of the body, this is the place where I go to usually around lunch hour.  Since I don't take lunch (due to heavy breakfast), so I spent my lunch time here.  Usually tak lama pun.  Just around one hour on the threadmill and bicycle.  Then as always, I would do some weights before warming down.  This  gymnasium is overlooking the swimming pool.  And there is music at the background.  So I can say that it is quite relax and serene.  The only thing I don't like is that the equipment is quite old.  They should change it already since there are many latest and modern equipment in the market now.  Threadmill dia sangat la uzur.  Berbunyi2 bila laju.  Scary jugak la kan.  I ought to put then in suggestion form later.

And last but not least, the main reason why hubby always like to stay at Vistana Hotel Penang sebab belakang hotel ni ada Restaurant Original Penang Nasi Kandar!  Memang tak lepas kan peluang setiap kali datang sini.  Ni mmg ori la.. and lazat!  I yg x nak makan nasi pun "terpaksa" makan sebab kalau x rugi.  Hehe.  My sister sampai kirim suruh bawak balik KL lagi :)))

And of course, this Bukit Jambul Complex is just a walking distance from the hotel.  Too many stuffs are being sold here.  Ala-ala PKNS la. Semua yg boleh jual ada di jual.  Lolz.  We like to go here to buy food stocks at Mydin.  And dikesempatan ni, this visit, me managed to make our glasses sekali since we were here for 1 week.  Sempat la siap.  It was veryyy cheap.  Sebab tu la buat kat sini.  Hehehe.

Do dreams ways of telling us something?

I had a weird dream last night.  About an old friend.  In the dream, she was quite ill.  Was being treated by a pious man. The man was taking out stuffs from her body.  Bad stuffs.  While having the treatment, there was blood coming out from pores of her skin which in the dream, I was told that the bad stuffs were coming out the form of the blood.  I was awaken by the nightmare.  My friend and I, we were once close.  Then situations drift us apart as we both have other obligations path to follow.  Though, we still communicate once a while through text messages or facebook.  I performed my Subuh prayer right away and prayed that The Almighty safeguards and protects her from any evils or sickness.

Just before lunch, I checked my hp and of all days, received a text from her that day.  Replied her text and took the courtesy to ask of her well being.  Told her that I had a bad dream about her and that she was sick. Though I understand that nightmares do play trick on us at times, but it is not wrong to ask correct?

And she replied:
"Unfortunately your dream is telling you the truth.  I am sick......"  and the text continued.

It is not a normal sickness like having a fever, runny nose or equivalent.  It is more serious than that.  I shared with her the content of my nightmare and she was speechless about it.  She did share some stuffs too which I think it is quite personal to be shared here.  Nevertheless, she was thankful that I shared with her and plan to seek an opinion through consultation with someone with higher knowledge and background of our religion.

InsyaAllah... I will keep praying for her that she will be in the greatest of health.  Amin.

Swimming class : 1st session

Hari ni 1st session swimming class.  Akhirnya.. dapat gak join swimming class ni.  Dah lama gak la survey2 tapi cam hangat2 chicken shit je.  Bila hubby tanya nak join dia ngan kawan2 dia ke x, mula2 malas gak kalau sume guys.  Walaupun mmg kenal and rapat ngan geng2 office hubby ni but still, u know la.. guys sessions, malas nak follow.  Then bila one of his friend cakap yang wife dia pun nak join, so apa lagi, I pun ok je la.  Lagipun mmg kenal wife kawan hubby ni.  So lagi la ok kan.  At least ada geng.  Cost swimming lesson ni pun quite ok la.  So i think.  Though my sister said it is quite expensive.  It costs RM250 for 8 sessions.  1 session is one hour.  Tapi sbb kitorg nak cepat qhatam and since it is not that easy to find days that semua orang free at the same time, so we all ckp nak buat 2 hours per session.  So our classes will be four sessions je la.  Our instructor tu muda lagi.  Very patient mengajar abang2 and kakak2 yang berenang ikut style masing2.  Kalau cun ok gak, ni berterabur, kaki tangan sumer kemana.  Hahahaha..

So the class started at 8.30am.  Mula2 kitorang sumer kena warm up dulu.  Lari keliling swimming pool 3 rounds.  And mind you, swimming pool ni leh tahan luas gak. so mmg penat gak la.  But thanks to my daily workout, so not so bad la.  Ada gak la stamina nak lari 3 rounds tu.  Then after that buat la stretching sikit.. semua follow je apa instructor tu buat.  Lolz.

And the class began, mula2 dia ajar cara nak turun swimming pool dgn cara yang betul.  Ha, ni pun ada cara tau.  Bila nak turun guna tangga tu, kita kena turun ikut belakang.  I baru tau yang ni.  All this while mmg main turun ikut depan je.  Hehe.  Then bila dah dalam air, dia suruh kita letak tangan atas kepala and jalan from one side to the other side.  Nak suruh familiarkan dengan air and get comfortable dulu.  Baru la boleh start latihan.

So selain tu, first day tu, i belajar cara bernafas yg betul masa swimming, cara tahan nafas dalam air, cara naik ke tepi kolam yg betul without tangga, cara floatkan badan (ni belum pass lagi), backstroke and baru sempat belajar breaststroke, how to do the frog-style kick.  Tu je sempat masa first day tu, then sebab hujan, kena la naik.  Kalau tak mmg dah berjam kitorg berendam dalam tu sebab masing excited kan nak practice skill baru.  Hehehe..

So here are some pix.  Time belaja xde sapa nak capture so sume gambar posing2 la yer.  Korang just bear with it ya! Enjoysss!

Long overdue vacation: Mabul Island - The diving experience

I was actually going through my photo albums kat laptop ni.  Igt nak order photo book sebab ada banyak promotion kat groupon on photobooks.  So dok pilih2 tgk2 gambar, came across pictures when we went for a vacation at Mabul.  Ohhh... rindu nya tempat ni.  nak pergi lagi.. nak pergi lagi. agak2 bila la i dapat nak sampai lagi kat sini.  Hmm, kena tanya en hubby ni, agak2 ada x plan nak gi laut lagi.. hihihi. kalau x mabul, kat semenanjung ni pun ok.. hik hik.. This vacation was in April 2012.  First time dapat berjalan di bulan April.  For the past 7 years time ni adalah bulan yang sangat busy being a tax consultant due to filing season.  But i got an exception this year sebab dah benti keja dari bulan Januari.  So dapat la gi jalan2 bulan 4 tu.

Ok this post is to share more on the diving experience that I had.  Kalau nak citer pasal the three days kitaorg kat sana mmg berjela2 la kan.  Since this was my 1st exprience ber diving, so kita citer and tgk gambar diving je la yer.   Ye ye, saya mmg xde diving licence... tapi camna leh gi giving camtu?  Hehe.. yelah.. ni hanya la discovery diving.  So you do not need to have a licence for that. Sebab, kita ada full licensed trainer untuk jaga kita one to one.  So tak takut la kalau ada orang jaga kan? Ohh tidakkkk... takut masih takut ye!  Just imagine u r 12 meters bawah laut, mau nyer x takut.  Banyak la soalan2 yang diajukan ke en hubby.  Panic punya pasal kan.  Apapun after gone through it... my advise is, tak payah takut2, panic x tentu pasal.  Just go and enjoy je.  Mmg best.  Especially when you get to see the underwater creatures and all.  MashaAllah... cantikk sangat.  Ok la, x yah citer banyak2,  meh layan gambar2 pulak la noks..

Equipment ready!  All geared up!

Off we go!!
Ok, rupa2 nya bukan saya je yg cuak ok. Apapun, depan camera, control bebeh!

Suamiku ROBOCOP?

Berat woooo tong gas tu.  But bila dah dalam air, light as a feather.  Tak rasa langsung beratnya!

Reached down.  Ni baru 5 meters underneath.

S.O.S
Ok, time ni cuak gak.  Sebab tetiba rasa suffocate.  Maybe sbb kena breathe in and out guna mulut je and kita kan dah biasa guna mulut and hidung.  So time ni cam gelabah sket.  But ingat instructor cakap apa pun jgn panic.  So jangan panic!

Underwater briefing
Time ni instructor nak test kita punya skils yg dia ajar before masuk laut.  So, semua orang ok (ye sign camtu ialah ok! Jangan buat sign good pulak.  Kalau sign good, maksud nya "up".  So nanti instructor bawak naik atas sbb igt kita tak ok. huhuhu.  Ha, tu tgk laki I tu.. relax je. Mentang2 dia dah biasa.  Kitaorg ni jer yang newbies so cam cartoon la gak.  Tengok my legs tu.  Actually kena duduk kat atas pasir tu. tapi asyik nak ternaik ke atas je.  Instructor tu cakap badan i banyak angin sbb tu x leh stay. Lolz!

Group pictures.

Oh penyu!  This is 12 meters underwater.

Why so serious! Lets put some smile to your face. Hehe :)

Kapal yang karam.. or sengaja dikaramkan untuk jadi tarikan kepada divers. lolz.

Transit before naik atas.
Ni dah nak naik atas dah.  Actually we were down there for 45mins to an hour jugak.  Tapi tak rasa pun.  Cam kejap je dah nak naik.  Serious x puas.  Anyway, at 5 meters underwater, kita kena stop dulu kejap.  Due to pressure kat bawah laut tu, semua organ kita mengecut.  So x boleh terus naik atas without stopping sbb takut organ2 kita especially paru2 mengembang secara mengejut and boleh menyebabkan pecah.  So transit ni utk balance kan pressure kat dalam badan kita.  If am not mistaken, kena stop for 5 minutes camtu la.  Then after that baru naik slow2.

Yay! I did it!
Finally, yay! alhamdulillah semua ok.  And yes! I fought my fear!  Seronoknya rasa.  Actually bersyukur sgt sbb walaupun cuak and all, I still have the courage to do this.

Who is that dude?
Ini la dia, my instructor.  Orang lain sumer kena share instructor.  Tapi mamat ni jaga i sorang.  Maybe sbb muka i yang paling cuak kot.  Budak lagi si leng chai ni.  Dia ni tgh nak dlm process amek licence as a MasterDive.  Sekarang ni dia dah ada rescuer licence.  Dia ni org KL gak.  Tapi mmg selalu ke sana sbb nak buat licence tu.

Last but not least, our picture!! Thank u sayang bawak i gi masuk laut!!!

Weekly groceries shopping!

Ok post ni bukan nak ajak kawan2 shopping ye.  Saya ni mana la bleh shopping.  Nak kena budget, maklum la masih bergelar suri rumah lagi.. Belum ada rezeki dpt keja baru lagi.  Xpe la.. insyaAllah.. on day :).

Anyway, actually tajuk kat atas tu sbb saya ni tetiba rasa nak tulis pasal our weekly groceries spending.  Selama ni shopping2 tiap2 minggu x pernah terfikir pun nak calculate, dalam sebulan berapa habis untuk groceries.  But the latest weekly spending, our bill hit RM200.  Of cos I agak terkejut kan.  Though hubby does all the paying tapi of cos la sebagai wife kita jadi accountant nya.  Yelah, for 2 people in the household kan.  Tu yg I terfikir nak kira our monthly spending.

Ok, on average, every week kalau pergi Tesco, our spending would be around RM90 to RM180.  So lets take average of RM150 per week.  So multiply by 4 weeks.  Roughly around RM600 juga la our household monthly spending.  Wah, bila dihutung sedemikian, mmg banyak rasanya.  And mind you, it is only hubby and myself dalam rumah ni.  Ni belum ada anak lagi.  Terfikir juga, ke we all over spent?  Or mmg barang2 dah semakin mahal?  Sebab nak kata banyak barang nya we all beli every weekend tu xde la banyak giler pun.  Kalau barang makanan or raw food mmg just enough for consumption untuk seminggu.  Ok la kadang2 ada la lebih untuk the following week.

So it makes me wonder, berapa la agak2 spending per month untuk orang2 yg ada anak ramai.  For example my sister in law who has 6 kids.  Waduh2, sure lagi banyak kan cost incur.  Nak beli pampers lagi, susu lagi.  I just can't imagine.

So what about u guys?

On Apple Cider Vinegar

Hari ni jalan2 kat giant sbb rumah xde electric.  Actually x plan pun nak cari apple cider vinegar ni.  But alang2 dah jumpa, beli je la terus.  My main reason minum ACV ni untuk energy and to lose weight.  Also since it can help to help reduce sugar level so why not kan cuba.

How I normally take the ACV:

1) Right after i bangun from sleep, i'll drink a glass of water with 1 teaspoon of ACV.

2) Before every meal, i'll drink a glass of water with 1 teaspoon of ACV.

3) Before I sleep, i'll drink a glass of water with 1 teaspoon of ACV.

For those yg nak tahu more about it, you may want read further. Otherwise, u can also google kalau rajin :)

What Can Raw Apple Cider Vinegar Do for Me?
Beneficial ingredients in raw apple cider vinegar give it its power to make us feel better, look better and feel energized. Just look at some of the beneficial ingredients in raw apple cider vinegar:

  • Potassium – helps to prevent brittle teeth, hair loss and runny noses.
  • Pectin – helps to regulate blood pressure and reduce bad cholesterol.
  • Malic Acid – gives ACV the properties of being anti-viral, anti-bacterial & anti-fungal.
  • Calcium – helps create strong bones and teeth.
  • Ash – gives ACV its alkaline property which aids your body in maintaining proper pH levels for a healthy alkaline state.
  • Acetic Acid – It appears that this acid slows the digestion of starch which can help to lower the rise in glucose that commonly occurs after meals.
  • A Few Benefits of Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of Raw Apple Cider Vinegar mixed in 4 ounces of purified water after a meal has been used as a natural remedy for heartburn and as a replacement for toxic heartburn medications.
  • Raw Apple Cider Vinegar may help improve bowel irregularity, thereby removing toxins from the body at a faster rate.
  • Helps clear up skin conditions and blemishes giving a smoother texture and complexion.
  • Raw Apple Cider vinegar may also help with joint pain and stiffness.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar helps to break down fats so that your body can use them rather than store them. For this reason, many diets include ACV in their regimen.
  • On a small scale, ACV was studied by researchers at Arizona State University. The preliminary study was published in the Diabetes Care journal. It reported that ACV helps reduce levels of glucose.
  • Raw organic apple cider vinegar is even good for pets. It has been used to help control fleas and even promotes a healthy shiny coat.

Apple Cider Vinegar helps insulin resistance, as well as other PCOS issues!

Apple Cider Vinegar can be used for more than just cooking. It’s also a longtime medicinal remedy for many issues including:
  • Blood pressure and cholesterol
  • Heartburn and arthritis
  • Ear and yeast infections
  • Improves your immune system
  • Skin detoxification
  • ACV also provides MANY health benefits to those of us suffering from PCOS:
  • Promotes weight loss
  • Reduces sugar cravings
  • Aids in digestion — ACV helps stimulate your stomach acid which aids in the digestion of protein and fats. Healthy digestion is important for overall health and weight control.
  • Weight control — Apple cider vinegar speeds up metabolism especially when taken regularly before meals and if used with a sensible diet and exercise program. ACV has also been proven to help burn fat!
  • Helps prevent dandruff, itching scalp, baldness (common with PCOS!!)
  • Helps maintain healthy skin
  • Restores your body’s pH balance — Your blood is supposed to be slightly alkaline, but poor diet and lifestyle choices harm that pH balance. As your blood becomes acidic, the stage is set for illness. Acidity has also been shown to affect fertility. Women who have hostile cervical mucus have also been shown to have a higher acidity in their body. This is essential for those of you trying to conceive as ACV helps restore your body’s pH.
  • Believe it or not, recent studies have proven that ACV is also incredibly beneficial in controlling insulin resistance. Actually, this study showed ACV to be just as helpful in controlling IR as Metformin and other insulin sensitizing drugs !

Now you may be thinking, “You want me to drink this stuff ?!?!?!” the answer is YES. I know, it sounds crazy especially since we all know how ACV smells, however I stand by this stuff and its worth the icky taste.

During my last pregnancy I had kidney stones in both kidneys. They were causing blockage and so much trouble I was about to be admitted and induced. I started adding some ACV to my water once a day and within a week my pain was gone. I returned to the doctor for my weekly check and every sign of the stones had disappeared.

There are various kinds/types of vinegar, but make sure you are choosing a raw, fermented version of ACV (not the white vinegar!) such as Bragg Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar. While ACV comes in a capsule/pill it is strongly recommended to take the liquid form to get the most health benefits.

If you can get over the taste (try my method of plugging your nose and chugging!) you’ll benefit from one of the most important natural remedies in healing the body.
